{"id":3626,"date":"2019-10-14T11:30:05","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T11:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/2019\/10\/14\/how-many-hours-per-night-should-people-sleep\/"},"modified":"2019-10-14T11:30:05","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T11:30:05","slug":"how-many-hours-per-night-should-people-sleep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radianthealth.us\/es\/2019\/10\/14\/how-many-hours-per-night-should-people-sleep\/","title":{"rendered":"How Many Hours Per Night Should People Sleep?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-869 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/sleep-resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>How many hours of sleep do you get on average every night?\u00a0 Most Americans suffer a sleep deficit.<\/p>\n<p>We simply don\u2019t get enough.\u00a0 According to the National Sleep Foundation, the optimal amount of sleep you need depends mostly on how old you are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s the scoop on how much sleep you need per day:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newborn Babies (0 to 3 months): 14 to 17 hours<\/li>\n<li>Infants (4 to 11 months): 12 to 15 hours<\/li>\n<li>Toddlers (1 to 2 years): 11 to 14 hours<\/li>\n<li>Preschoolers (3 to 5 years): 10 to 13 hours<\/li>\n<li>School-Aged Children (6 to 13 years): 9 to 11 hours<\/li>\n<li>Teenagers (14 to 17 years): 8 to 10 hours<\/li>\n<li>Young Adults (18 to 25 years): 7 to 9 hours<\/li>\n<li>Adults (26 to 64 years): 7 to 9 hours<\/li>\n<li>Older Adults (65 years or older): 7 to 8 hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you can see, there\u2019s quite a lot of variability here, so the answer of 8 hours of sleep per night doesn\u2019t really tell the whole story.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the above, gender differences affect the amount and quality of sleep we get.\u00a0 Women, for instance, tend to require somewhat more sleep than men and will usually be higher on the range for any given age bracket.\u00a0 Women are also more prone to developing sleep disorders, while men tend to be much more prone to snoring (which naturally, can also disrupt the woman\u2019s sleep patterns).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fortunately, there are a few simple things you can do to improve your sleep.\u00a0 These include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish and stick to a regular bedtime<\/li>\n<li>Develop a pre-sleep routine which includes a warm bath, a light snack, and perhaps a bit of reading just before bed<\/li>\n<li>Keeping your bedroom on the cool side, between 60 and 67 degrees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you do these simple things, you\u2019ll dramatically improve the quality of your sleep!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-869 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/sleep-resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>How many hours of sleep do you get on average every night?\u00a0 Most Americans suffer a sleep deficit.
