{"id":3149,"date":"2018-07-30T12:22:28","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T12:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/2018\/07\/30\/how-to-help-kids-stay-healthy-during-the-summer\/"},"modified":"2018-07-30T12:22:28","modified_gmt":"2018-07-30T12:22:28","slug":"how-to-help-kids-stay-healthy-during-the-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radianthealth.us\/es\/2018\/07\/30\/how-to-help-kids-stay-healthy-during-the-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Help Kids Stay Healthy During The Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-530 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/files\/2018\/07\/kids-summer-resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>School\u2019s out and it\u2019s time for summertime fun!<\/p>\n<p>What kid (big or little) doesn\u2019t love summertime?\u00a0 From a child\u2019s perspective, it\u2019s the perfect time of year.\u00a0 No school.\u00a0 Relaxed rules.\u00a0 Relaxed schedules.\u00a0 What\u2019s not to like?<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it\u2019s easy to take things too far, and that can have detrimental effects on your child\u2019s health.\u00a0 Here are a few simple tips to keep your kids of all ages healthy during the long, lazy days of summer:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scheduling Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s fine to have one (or several) goof off days during the summer.\u00a0 That is, after all, part of the charm of the season.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to be a killjoy to impose a little structure on the long break from school.\u00a0 We don\u2019t recommend waking your kids up at the crack of dawn like a drill Sargent.\u00a0 Let them sleep in a little (you could probably use a bit of that too!).<\/p>\n<p>At the same time though, do try and keep your children on a schedule.\u00a0 It\u2019s fine if there\u2019s a bit more slack in it, but growing bodies need plenty of sleep, and sticking close to regular bedtimes, even if it\u2019s on a \u201crelaxed, summer schedule\u201d will go a long way toward making sure they get the rest they need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Limit The Junk Food At Home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s true that kids at home all day do a lot more \u201cgrazing,\u201d and it\u2019s true that their preferred snacks aren\u2019t at all healthy, you can easily mix in some healthy-ish alternatives with the pure junk food, and every little bit will help.\u00a0 The less junk they eat during the summer, the fewer health and weight problems they\u2019re likely to have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pack Snacks When You Go On The Road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all too easy when you\u2019re traveling for vacation to stop at the local Dairy Queen or burger joint for some food on the go.\u00a0 That\u2019s fine once in a while as a treat, but the better approach is to plan ahead and pack your own healthier snacks.\u00a0 It\u2019s an \u201con the go\u201d version of the idea we mentioned above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Planned Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Too often these days, kids are inclined to stay indoors \u2013 don\u2019t let them!\u00a0 Encourage and plan a variety of activities that see them spending lots of time in the great outdoors, romping and having fun.\u00a0 That\u2019s good, and healthy for everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Staying healthy during the summer months doesn\u2019t have to be boring.\u00a0 With a bit of applied creativity, everybody will have a great time, and avoid developing unhealthy habits at the same time.\u00a0 That\u2019s win-win!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-530 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/radianthealth.us\/files\/2018\/07\/kids-summer-resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>School\u2019s out and it\u2019s time for summertime fun!
